Sleepers are great in a regular fantasy football league, but you don’t want to waste a roster spot on one in a Fanduel contest. At the end of the day, you want players that are high on the depth chart and have a high likelihood of producing the week you pick them.

Just because that rookie wide receiver had a strong and unexpected game last week doesn’t mean he will this week. It is really about match-ups and picking consistent players. Stay away from most sleepers unless they have proven to be consistent week in and out - which would mean that they aren’t really sleepers.

Defensive Match-Up

You don’t have to go crazy on your defense. This is an area where you can save money for your position players. But that doesn’t mean you don’t want to analyze the defensive match-ups of each team.

Some defenses play better at home or against a certain quarterback. This is especially true for divisional games. Teams are often “up” for divisional games because they mean so much, that they perform better than expected.

Don’t think you need to spend a lot on your defense to win each week. Look for the match-ups and find the best defense for the value and the one that allows you to spend on the top position players.

Adjust Your Line Up

It is best to get the join a contest and set up your line-up early in the week. This is because you are not obligated to play the players your first pick.

Go ahead and feel free to do more research after you set your initial roster. Injuries and other things happen during the week leading to the games that change match-ups.

Maybe, while watching ESPN, you hear something you didn’t think about. Go in and see if you can change your line up.

Trying to get one player could mean you have to drop another for a lesser valued player. But if you think the addition will make up for the change, then by all means do it.
